Artist Spotlight – Debe from Tilde

1. What bargain are you most excited about selling at the next Bargain Hunting sale?
We will bring an assortment of handbags from Highway, Latico and even a few Orla Kiely! Plus a good selection of wallets from Orla Kiely, RandL, and Poketo wallets (who makes wallets & card cases from recycled leather sofas).Jewelry from Figs & Ginger, Erica Weiner. Organic clothing by PIO Organic. Beautiful scarves from local designer Chelsea Heffner of Plainmade. And finally a whole bunch of piggy banks, calculators, candles.

2.  What makes your business or products unique?

Tilde, a modern lifestyle shop & art gallery features a selection of jewelry, handbags, artwork and home decorative items.

Our products are made directly by an artist or small design company and are chosen for their clean lines, color and the story behind the design. All our products are displayed with a bio of the artist or design company so customers can learn how the products are created.

We are also known for our fantastic windows that we dream up and put together in our tiny back room. We’ve filled out windows with giant forest creatures roasting marshmallows over a campfire, cross-stitched cities & towns, macaroni art-hearts framed and floating in both windows, giant acorns (bigger than your head) hanging from ropes with xmas lights twinkling amongst, hand-printed cameo’s sewn into large fabric pendants and a million more. It’s one of our favorite way to spend our “extra” time.

3. If you could collaborate on a project or have collaborated on any project with anyone in the world (dead or alive) who would it be? Please expand on this (more info is better)

We are collaborating with Sayuri Sasaki as the feature artist at Tilde for the month of September. In addition to her work on our walls, she will put in an underwater sea life installation in one of our windows. We will create – in the opposing window – our version of the fishy underworld. We are already giddy with delight to put this window together.

I’d love to just volunteer to work with Simon Doonan – the mastermind behind the windows at Barney’s each year. His creativity is unparalleled and to do one complete window display with him would be a lifetime dream.
